RIM has spent millions on a 30 second spot at the Super Bowl XLVII. Spots this year are going for a record high of at least $4 million. This ad is set to kick off a week of launch activist all across the globe to highlight Blackberry 10 OS and the first two devices. On Wednesday February 2nd after their January 30th release date and leading up to the Super Bowl, RIM will be unveiling the Blackberry 10 platform at several events. The first two devices for the Blackberry 10 platform will also be revealed on this day. It has been a long wait for RIM to release the Blackberry 10 platform with an original release date that was scheduled for early 2012. With several push backs the time has finally come and RIM is banking on the success of it all. There will be a serious push in online ads and on social networks to support Blackberry’s Super Bowl spot.
“A Super Bowl commercial is a great opportunity to show the redesigned, re-engineered and reinvented BlackBerry to tens of millions of consumers on the largest advertising stage of the year,” RIM marketing chief Frank Boulben said in a statement.
